Yesterday was our second trip to Lighthouse Ministries to assist in the kitchen and serve lunch to staff and students/residents.  Again, everyone we encountered was so pleasant and welcoming.  Lunch was Cheesy Beef & Potato with Green Beans, Salad and Dessert.  Again, we ate after our serving duties were complete and enjoyed it very much.  Our kitchen work involved stocking shelves and organizing one storage room with all the donated food items.  The amount of donations they receive exceeds the storage capacity and Jodie, the Chef, assigned us to clear off a pallet of donated items into a room that was nearly at capacity already.  Well, they picked the right gal for the job and Mag got busy organizing the room as I delivered the new items to her.

We didn’t get to finish the organizing project because we had to transition to our task of serving, but we’ll get back to it, I’m sure.  The turnout for lunch was light today as we discovered that a group of the men we off working at the Thrift Stores; they have four located across the area.  We committed to Christmas Eve and Fridays until we leave Sanlan the end of January, but in addition to that, Vicki from Lighthouse reached out Thursday to ask if we could help with food prep Monday and Tuesday, 12/23 & 12/24.  We agreed to help and are looking forward to it.  Steve also sent out an email blast looking for help at the Thrift Stores.  We haven’t talked about this request, so we’ll see.

We’re on for St. Augustine and decided to spend a couple of nights at a Bed & Breakfast downtown.  It’s a little over a three-hour drive so we’ll make it worth our while, especially looking forward to Nights of Lights events during our stay.  Can’t wait to share.

We feel so fortunate to have the opportunity to travel, meet new people and help wherever we can.

Peace, Joy & Love to all!

Wishing everyone a Merry Christmas!

  1. Merry Christmas to you both. Seems giving of ones self is a special gift that you are sharing with folks in need. I have seen the posts about Penny on FB before this post. That seemed strange, but take her for your own. She fits perfectly in the back seat. Merry Christmas and a happy and healthy New year to you both. Much love

  2. She did fit perfectly in the back seat. I worry she won’t fit so well in our traveling lifestyle. Mag is all-in, I’m sure, but I’m hesitant. Many do it but I’m not ready.
