Our plan was to depart Monday, November 10 but we have delayed it until Saturday, November 15.
A couple of factors weighed in on our decision to push it out. One concern was Jeanne was scheduled to fly out Thursday (11/8)
but considering the reduction of flights ordered by the DOT and the situation with the Air Traffic Controllers, we agreed to postpone our departures.
Jeanne is now scheduled to depart Friday, November 14 and we will head out the following day. If the air travel situation doesn’t improve, she’ll jump in the truck with us on Saturday travelling to Hershey, PA, then Natural Bridge, VA and finally Raeford, NC. This will shorten our stay in NC so we can jump back on our original schedule.
We did take on an additional project at the last hour. When we travel to campgrounds and connect to their water supply or rely on water stored in the onboard freshwater tank, we often share concern about water quality considering we drink a fair amount of H2O each day. Typically, we put roughly 25 gallons in the freshwater tank, to cover us while we’re traveling, with well water from the house. The well water doesn’t contain any chlorine that would provide an additional level of comfort, and we’re not totally convinced all campgrounds provide the highest quality water, but most probably do. Despite sanitizing the freshwater system in August, we didn’t lose the concern. We decided to go with “better safe than sorry.”
We did some research and decided to install a water filter at the kitchen sink with a separate spigot for filling bottles that we will use for drinking water. Two pieces of equipment were installed; an 8 stage RO (Reverse Osmosis) filter, and a UV Water Filter that will kill 99.999% of any bacteria. Now we’ll have no worries about drinking water.
The trailer & truck have been prepped and are ready to go. We need to finish packing this coming week and then we’re off. We’re looking forward to getting on the road and seeing some of you!! ♥
