Thursday night we were invited to a night of cards with our Canadian friends, now totaling 7.  The game was called Seven and involved quarters and nickels.  It’s an easy game to pick up and after one make believe round, we were ready to play.  It was a fun night with plenty of banter around the table.  The rec hall include tables & chairs, a ping pong table, a couple of vending machines, some assorted books and games.  Attached is also a large screened-in room with a full kitchen and grill for guests to use.  We haven’t used it ourselves but our Canadian friends have several times because it’s a great spot for large groups to gather.

Super Bowl LVIII – Kansas City Chiefs vs. San Francisco 49’s

Earlier in the week we learned of a guest coordinated Super Bowl Party suggesting each guest bring something to share.  The past several Super Bowls, party attendees consisted of just Mag and me.  We decided to bring the usual fare we graze on for this year’s gathering which consisted of: Nachos, Chili, Corn Bread, Chicken Wings, Popcorn, and Brownies.  Most all could be considered Vegan and all would be Vegetarian.

It turned out to be quite a gathering and a real nail biter of a game!  There was maybe 22 party goers and it was a fun time.  Our friend Darlene from the Great White North worked hard to put the event together.  She coordinated with the staff to get the word out, decorated the hall, made all kinds of food.  During the game, she brought along some crafting items for folks to create during the game.  In addition to what we brought to the party, we saw taco dip, Brunswick stew, pulled pork, cocktail wieners, cupcakes, sandwiches, spinach balls, vegetable platter, cream cheese spread, corn chips and M&M peanuts.

  1. Kim and Bob lived on Eglin in the β€˜90s and I spent some time with them. Bob was stationed next door at Hulbert (sp?) a helicopter SAR base while Eglin was fighter jets F15’or F16.
Fun memories for me. The kids went to school on base and I would visit for lunch and read to their classes. I think K-4th grade. I loved the ham it up.
