This is our last full week at Sanlan RV & Golf Resort. Wednesday, December 27, we’re heading north. So far, we’ve enjoyed our time here and giving serious thought to extending our time here next year. The weather forecast for Monday and Tuesday looks rainy so we’re thinking of what we need to get done to prepare for our departure before the rain starts. We need to get stuff packed away, check tires, fluid levels, hitch, and so on. The trailer has been holding up well except for some small issues. The ignitor module on the stove/range is not working and needs to be replaced. Once we get to Keystone Heights, we’ll order the part and I’ll install it. It’s not a big deal at the moment because we can light the stove burners manually but not the oven. For the oven, we use the air fryer/toaster oven. Also, a seal on the toilet has failed but it’s not critical; there is no leak but it needs to be replace. We ordered the seal and will take care of that when we get to Keystone, as well.
Every Sunday morning in the Lakeside Recreation Center, a Sunday Service is held. It is offered by Bob Entner, who is our neighbor. He and his wife Sue were the couple who had invited us to the holiday concert. It was a nice service, different and new for us, but it was a nice gathering with donuts & coffee served afterward. Helga & Nick joined us at our table afterward, who were from Ontario, Canada. We have to say, there is a lot of folks here from Ontario! Like many, Helga & Nick traveled and spent time at this campground over the years and eventually purchased a permanent unit where they now spend their winters. They have health insurance in Canada which means they are not allowed to spend more than six months out of country so many stay around four months at the campground leaving time for travel to/from the Great White North.
Week 4 has been a little chilly and windy which has kept up us from outdoors stuff. It did allow us to get some chores done and begin to plan the remainder of our time here and our departure. We managed a hike out to Banana Lake here at Sanlan Wednesday and it was a lovely day. We have found that you need dress in layers because in the morning you may need a jacket but, by late morning you have to remove layers especially when your in the sun. It may be 65 degrees outside but in the sun, it’s more like 70+. Of the 27 days we’ve been here, I think I’ve only worn long pants on a couple of occasions not counting times where long pants would be appropriate for the occasion. We miss family and friends back home but we don’t miss the cold weather. Mag has been working on completing her photography course and temporarily turned the kitchen table into a workspace.
