Thursday was a down day but we didn’t skip our walks around the resort; it’s something we look forward to once, many times twice, per day.  Mag did some research to plan our Friday.  There is a lighting ceremony at Bonnet Springs Park.   A beautiful park created under an endowment by Carol Jenkins Barnett, has no entry fee; it’s entirely free.  The 168 acres was previously a large rail yard servicing Florida’s phosphate and agricultural industries which essentially created Lakeland.  The rail yard closed down in the 1980s.  In 2016 the land was purchased and remediation began in 2019 with a Grand Opening Ceremony October 2022.  We walked around the park a bit before Light Up BSP event began and we were both impressed.  It has much to offer young ones including nature education, trials and so on.

Prior to Light Up BSP, we visited the botanical gardens or, Hollis Garden.  The garden was very nice but smaller than what we expected.  Next on the agenda was dinner back at Vegetation Cafe & Kitchen.  We dined on Alfredo Pasta with Mushrooms & Peas followed by some Chocolate Chip Cookies.  We also purchased some additional dishes for the fridge; Enchilada Casserole and Jerk Bowl, we’re looking forward to those!

Saturday’s weather forecast is calling for rain, heavy at times, throughout the day.  We’re laying low today.  Hope your weather is better.
