Hi everybody!!
We’re getting everything ready to depart toward Florida next week; we’re excited! It’ll be a very similar route with a stop over in NC for Thanksgiving.
Earlier in the month, brother Matt put together a send-off brunch at the Dam Cafe in Holyoke. It was a great visit and great seeing them! ♥
The trailer got a bath, slides & seals are lubricated, oil level in the generator checked, all systems checked and, the tires, I’m happy to report, are good! The truck goes to the dealer for a checkup on Thursday.
Last year we left just before Christmas and that turned out to be too late. We faced some harsh weather the first several days so, in an effort to not have a repeat of that, we decided to leave earlier this year. On the back end, we’ve decided to return a little bit later to avoid the same.
Not only will leaving earlier and returning later allow us to experience some better weather along the route, it also means we don’t have to worry about the water system freezing or having to take he necessary steps to avoid that from happening. Protecting the water system from freezing involves adding an environmentally friendly, non-toxic, antifreeze to the fresh water system which needs to be flushed out once we reach warmer climes. The fresh water system also needs to be sanitized once or twice per year to ensure no little “bugs” get in there ;). We just completed that task so were all set there.
The bulk of our stay will be in Florida. Not knowing what to expect weather-wise last year, we packed too much cold weather clothing. We now know how to better pack and any cold weather clothing will kept to minimum. We’re looking forward to the warmer weather, hiking, exploring new areas, meeting new folks and just having a fun and a relaxing time. We look forward to spending time with family and catching up with our Canadian friends who we met last year and any others we bump into.
