Today looks like it will be a rainy day so we going to drive up to Defuniak Springs to have a look around. Its about a 30 minute drive and on our way up we can see a lot of development going on; shopping plazas, condos, and so on. We poked around in a few stores and headed back to Freeport.

A second rainy day so we heading to Destin to check it out; it’s less then a half hour away. We set our GPS for Whole Foods in hopes we could pick up some items that can be hard to find at your local grocery store. On our way I see a bike shop so I pull in to Yolo Bike and Board. I inquire about a tube for my bike, 700 x 35/43C (whatever that means). Nope, they have nothing that narrow. As I look around, the bike shop is full of bicycles with those big fat tires you see nowadays. The pleasant woman suggest I try Robins Bike Shop back down route 98. Back down route 98 means driving west until I reach a u-turn spot, head east past Robins until I get to a u-turn spot, then west again into Robins lot. I thank her and think, “Ah, maybe next time.”

We manage a stop at Whole Foods and also drive around to scope out the area. Very commercial with lot of shops, restaurants and so on. We’ll probably stop to visit some of these places over the next few weeks. We head back east on route 98 and there is construction in and around then Santa Rosa area and we think, if we visit in 5 years we won’t recognize the place.

It looks like this will be the last rainy day for the next 5 or 6 days and Mag found a movie at the theater nearby for us to see, A man called Otto with Tom Hanks. The movie was enjoyable. Hanks does a great job, as usual, a good movie for a rainy day. The theater was in Miramar Beach, about a 25 minute drive, and Mag spotted lots of shops and restaurants we will scope out on a later trek. On our way to Miramar, I spotted Robins Bike Shop and was able to get a tube, yeah!

We had planned mass at Resurrection Church at 4:00 PM nearby but the movie went longer than we expected. Well, not the movie itself, it seems now the pre-movie reels with previews of coming attractions, etc. goes about a half an hour, so although the movie was scheduled for 1:30, it really started about 2:00. We ended up heading back to St. Rita’s for 5:00 PM mass which worked out great.

Tomorrow is Super Bowl Sunday! Mag and I have been planning our party, we’ve had one, just her and me, for a number of years now. Can hardly wait!

  1. I hope your hearing is back to normal,  ah the hazards of having the wrong valve.

You did at a good clip with your hiking, that is fast.

I can almost see and smell the forest by your descriptions
