We figured we should get some experience driving the RV, so we planned a week long camping trip in Lake George, NY. It isn’t too long of a drive and we were familiar with the route from our last camping trip in a rented RV. Accessing the campground is pretty easy e.g. 2 turns off the Interstate then one more turn into the Campground then into a pull through site so no backing up required. We didn’t plan on the pouring rain, though!
We arrived on Friday and set up camp without too much effort and we were grateful the rain had stopped. We like Lake George RV Campground because of its cleanliness, ease of access, hiking and biking trails, giant swimming pools at both ends of the park.
By Saturday morning; Tim was convinced he had Shingles so we headed to the Med Express Clinic. Sure enough, the doctor confirmed Shingles and prescribed some medication. Luckily it was caught early and suffering was limited to some mid section discomfort, heat intolerance and a little fatigue. The diagnosis didn’t stop him from riding his bicycle some 20+ miles the next day.
The week turned into the perfect opportunity to relax, read, enjoy lite treks around the campground, biking, swimming, and a little shopping. At the end of the week, it occurred to us that we’d never make the turn out of the campsite. The turn would require a hard left which would likely jackknife the trailer. You may be able to see the hard left turn in the photo – there’s no way we could have made this turn.
In the end, the campground staff allowed us to exit the campground using the entrance road which saved us from jackknifing the trailer and or getting hung up on a large tree stump. We’ve made note to avoid the last campsite on Hickory Lane in the future!
